It is a sweet butterfly pea tea, with a tangy twist. The Flavour: Expect a sweet, mild and subtle earthy flavour, paired with a twist of lemon and elderflower tang. This drink is served cold and is a bit of a showstopper when you order it! What is butterfly pea tea?! Well, it is a plant native to Asia. You may recognize it by its striking, vibrant blue flowers - in fact, you most definately will have seen these beautiful blue flowers of the Butterfly Pea climbing on your neighbour’s fence, blooming in the wild, in parks, or community gardens. It is a popular horticulture favourite in South East Asia. Why in a drink though? When the acidity of the pea flower tea changes, the colour changes as well, so of course HQ had to get playful!! Butterfly pea flowers are also associated with several health benefits! The scientific name for this plant is Clitoria ternatea, and it is a very versatile plant commonly used as a natural colouring for traditional cooking and as remedies for many ailments..meaning it isn't just a pretty face! Thats right Stalkers, it has a long history of use as a traditional medicine, and emerging research reveals the possible health benefits!
